Chosen Solution

For the last week I have been scouring the web looking for anyone to confirm or deny(with evidence) whether this is possible. So far? I’ve found nothing. Not even someone else asking the question. But I cant be the first that’s wanted to do this. Theres nothing on this site or any other that evens make reference to the version of this laptop with the HD display upgrade. Can anyone outline any internal hardware/firmware limitations within a Macbook Pro uni-body(early 2011) that would stop me from replacing my 1440x900 display with the other possible version this model can come with, the 1680x1050 version. Is there anyone out there able to make a side-by-side comparison of MBP 15"(uni-body), one with the normal display, one with the HD display? Does the display connector look different? have more pins? Thanks for any help. I really want to figure this out. Update Just an update on this. I upgraded my panel from a LP154WP4-TLA1 (low resolution glossy display) to the LP154WE3-TLB2 (high definition matte display) without a hitch. Thanks again for the help!

The answer is yes, they are interchangeable as you explain it. You are kind of demanding and I almost did not answer your question because of that. Go to my profile and read through my answers and you will find links showing the LVDS/video cable are the same and the LCDs are interchangeable, also click here for a thread discussing the compatibility. I don’t have time to back up what I say with the evidence you seek. Enough people out there have done it to say it is something that can be done.
