Having issues with a few things first Android pay won’t setup because it says phone has been rooted or possibly using a custom ROM which neither is the case second my PayPal app ask if I want to setup fingerprint scanner but gets stuck in the process of doing so. I’m thinking it’s due to the phone needing a security patch update, however thought I’d see if anyone else has a different suggestion or if they are having the same issues.

As of the latest versions of Android Pay, if your phone is rooted, you will not be able to use it. You will need to find an old app called Google Wallet. The only way around it was if you had an official stable release of CyanogenMod ROM, but that no longer is an option.

Chris if the phones not rooted it could be you have a virus. Malware and spyware will show up as rooting in the installation to the program and it wouldn’t download for security reasons. You may want to either do a factory reset to clean the phone or download security app . I myself would be more inclined to do a factor reset that way I know for sure its clean then install a security program of your liking .Dont forget to back up your data if you decide to reset the phone as all data ill be lost. Do the research on the program you chose not all are created equal. Hope this helps
