I saw a listing for an iPhone 7 Plus 256GB on eBay in my country (which is the Philippines). The device looks mint and it’s only selling for around $130. However the deal-breaker start with the seller, which is a very new account, only made on May 25, 2021 (as of writing it is May 30) and only has one 5-star rating as a seller. However, the seller accepts PayPal as payment which is the dealmaker for me, as I am aware of PayPal’s Buyer Protection policy which would help me ask for a refund if in case I don’t receive the device and the seller is indeed a scammer. My question is, if ever I purchase the device through PayPal, will I be vulnerable to some sort of scam even if PayPal has a Buyer Protection policy? Any pointers that I should take note to avoid getting scammed? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!
This listing has 5 days to go so I think you will find the winning bid will be much higher most likely in the high 200’s. It will not be a scam. If they are selling it on eBay and you pay through PayPal you are completely covered. For new sellers on eBay there money will be held for two to three weeks after the item is shipped so if you do not receive it or it is not as the description described you will be able to get a full refund and they will also pay for the return shipping.
