ALT (Option) Has Disabled From my MacBook Pro At Startup i cant Load Startup Manager with this button But it working in OS but in startup (Power on) doesn’t working. i cant use Reset NVRAM (CMD + ALT+R+P ) because ALT don’t stay working at boot if i try reset NRAM MacBook go to Recovery Mode not NVRAM mode because it read only (CMD+R+P) not read (CMD+ALT+P+R) i think ALT Disabled from my MacBook pro because i try Some Command last days like i disabled “SIP”.. i enabled it again and no result ALT stay not working.. Please Help me i want boot with USB device for Install Mac OS to another Partion in my Hard Drive… Update (12/20/2016) Thanks Dan & Bob but my problem not in startup manager the problem in ALT button does’t work at Bootloader but it stay working in OS.. I try an external keyboard and not working too i thank ALT disabled in my MacBook because i used some commands in terminal last days like i disable “SIP” and something like that and ALT button has disabled from my MacBook. how i can reset all configure to enable ALT again ? Maybe OS was disabled this button in startup ? if i remove partition ALT reset to work ?
I think you’re going to need to bring your system to an Apple Store to have them take a look at it. I’ve never encountered a keyboard issue like you describe here. The systems firmware doesn’t have any means to over-ride the keyboard at boot that doesn’t still have problems after the boot up. The only thing I can think of is the keyboard firmware needs updating. Review this Apple T/N: About EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Mac computers. Make sure your systems firmware is at the listed level or newer. The OS installer should have updated it but I’ve seen a few cases the installer failed to install the needed updates. Which is why you’ll need to visit an Apple Store as they have some tools to force it.
