I replaced after a water incident the keyboard, because it turned on and off all the time the monitor was working… After the replacement the mac started as usual the backlight flashed, went off and since that moment it stayed off I was able to use the mac with an external monitor, and everything is all right except the backlight…. I can see with an external light that the display is working. I tried to plug and unplug the connector, but no difference is there another connector for the backlight or is there a chance to repair just the backlight? Thank you, best regards Nikolaus
No other connectors beside the screen LVDS. It is possible to fix the backlight circuitry but it’s a component level repair that Apple won’t do and it’s difficult enough for a chance of a successful DIY attempt. If you can find a lab in Mac repairs in your area they might be able to fix it or you may consider a mail in order, there are many Pros around who would be able to do such repair.
