Hello, After ordering and installing a new battery into my Macbook Air from iFixit I am finding that this computer now powers down without warning. I have tried a PRAM and an SMC reset and neither have resolved it. Has anyone else run into this? It’s a bit of a bummer because I was hoping this battery would extend the life of this system. (edit: Thanks Dan!)

Thanks!

Well what I can tell you is your battery is just fine! And your systems charging logic is also working properly. That aims us to either a OS level issue or a SSD issue. I would start off creating an external bootable drive with the same version of macOS your system is currently running. That way you can boot up under it to see if your issues go away. Then slowly transfer each app over to see if one is your issue. Otherwise using your external drive as the boot drive run Disk Utility to check and fix any errors you have on your internal drive. That leads me to what is your current internal SSD? Are you still using the original Apple SSD or did you upgrade it? Also how full is your drive (your SSD’s size and the amount of data it currently has). Maybe your issue is a bad drive or one thats running too tight of free space.

Hello, Just wanted to let anyone who is curious know that I finally fixed this. When I reinstalled MacOS I used migration assistant to pull in my Dad’s profile. This seems to have unwittingly brought some corrupted data with it, because after another completely clean installation with restore from internet and upgrade to Monterey… this 2015 MacBook Air is fine. My Dad just wouldn’t let me tear it away from him long enough to try this out again up until now. Thanks to everyone who responded. James
