I recently replaced my son’s ipod touch 4th gen screen after it broke. The new screen works fine but occasionally the image on the screen becomes distorted. After a while it goes back to normal. When it is distorted, I can hardly make out what is on the screen but the touch function continues to work. This seems to happen randomly. What may be the cause and is it possible to fix it? Thanks.
It sounds like you damaged the cable, which is very common with this iPod. Try reseating it and see if the issue sorts itself out. If that doesn’t fix it, the cable on the LCD is damaged. If this is the case, the display assembly will need to be replaced. Since you have ready removed it, I assume you do not need a guide for display removal. However, since you may have damaged the cable, I would recommend looking at this guide: How to properly install the flex cable on the 4th Generation Touch
When you say randomly, could it be if there’s slight pressure applied in certain areas? That would narrow itdown to the right location, Also, the metal plate between the circuit board and lcd which is screwed in, is this flat and not distorted?
