Hi, My MBP Mid 2012 was damaged by water. It was pluged in and turned off on my desk, there were rain and the water filtered through the ceiling (it was at night while I was sleeping), in morning my MBP was flooded. I went to an autorised service center, and they told my that the Logic Board is damaged. The part price is $900 plus tax. They don’t asure me that the MBP will work in perfect conditions after replacement, they say is 50-50 change to get more malfunctions with the new Logic Board. Anyone has replaced a Logic Board before? Whats your experience? Do I spend on the repairment or buy a new (non mac) laptop?
I have done numerous logic board replacements. I think the $900 + tax price is pretty expensive. I guess that is for a replacement. I have found a very good repair service in China. I am amazed at what they have accomplished with my water damaged MacBooks. I don’t think they are over $250 and I have never had problems with these Macs after the repair. I can give you my contact if you are interested. I would go far to repair this machine. It is quadcore, SATA6, fast machine. If I was close to you I would buy it :-)
Hi I agree to the shops guys concerning turning out other malfunctions. Water does short circuits. This means, also the connected boards and parts could have been damaged by shorting, e.g. the display or the wlan board. Believing people on e.g. ebay and other sources, water damage can be logic board failure, graphic cards failure, LCD panel failure, wlan failure, bluetooth failure etc. and most of the times those failures do not necessarily happen at once, but one at a time.
