Hello, after a fall my mac is running super super super slow and the fan is in high speed and really loud. I already opened the mac, the fan is clean. I also tried to reboot it and settle MAC OS X LION, after 24hours of instal at 99% the mac says it is not possible to download the complementary component for the install of MAC OS X. I also tried to change the harddrive Do you have any idea ? Any recommandation ? Thanks a lot :D
Well, fan is just a fan, no brain, does what the system tells it to do. Troubleshooting a Mac after a fall may involve all and everything as a fan running full speed may be caused by a faulty sensor as well as the SMC that is the big boss of sensing and power handling. You can try disconnecting all parts connected to your Mac logic board, battery included, except keyboard/trackpad for turning it on/off and verify if anything is causing the issue. If that stops CPU throttling and full speed fan, reconnect cables one by one until you find the faulty part. If full speed fan is still there you’d probably have to replace the board or get it repaired.
