Chosen Solution
Ok, I have this Gateway MA 2 Laptop, which I wanted to do some upgrades like RAM & HD and software upgrade. But, when I try to boot the machine I get to the Bios screen and it quickly shuts down. I have tried to reset by removing battery and power supply and holding the power button down for 30 seconds, then I try to power on with just the power supply and I get no response from the machine. When I re-insert the battery it boots but shuts down again at the bios screen. ANy suggestions would be appreciated. UPDATE: I was able to boot after a second Power Management reset.
It sounds like it has a problem with it’s power management system (The battery, charger, power import board, ect.) as it seems that it can’t get power long enough to work. Since it won’t work without the batery, then it’s probably a bad charger. Can you tell me the laptop model?
