The display on about a little more than an inch of the right side of my screen works only sometimes. The touch part always works. For example, the right side of the screen can be black but if i have memorized the location / order of the apps, then i can guess where to touch on the black part of the screen and the app will open. Sometimes that side of the screen has full color, sometimes it is completely black, and sometimes it has lines and distorted colors. This has been going on for over a year. I don’t use this iPad that much. Use to, I could just press with my thumb in the bottom right corner of the screen and that would fix it. As I press down the colors would change and as I lifted my finger off it would be fixed. It has gotten worse. I have to press it a lot more times to get it to work and most of the time I just give up. When this first started, I took the iPad apart and tried to check all of the connectors. Anyways, do you think the display needs to be replaced, the connector needs to be seated, or the logic board is bad? I’ve seen similar post where people said it was the connector or the display. I’m just not sure how to know which it is and I would just like some input before I order any parts or open it up again. Thanks.
john things like this " press down the colors would change and as I lifted my finger off it would be fixed. " and this “it has lines and distorted colors.” make it sound like a bad LCD. I would replace it and re-evaluate. You will see if it is a connector issue (most likely not) when you replace the LCD. Here is the guide for it iPad Mini CDMA Front Panel Assembly Replacement and it is a bit of a bear to work on. Not impossible but not easy.
