After successfully installing a new headphone jack and hold switch into my ipod Classic (Thanks to ifixit.com and member input). I am not afraid of it anymore. And perhaps it is going to my head. I want to install a 1 tb ssd into it. As I understand it, I need a mSATA drive. I notice one for sale call a SAMSUNG 850 EVO mSATA 1TB Mini-SATA (mSATA) Internal SSD Single Unit Version MZ-M5E1T0BW on sale. Will this will work? My ipod model number is MC297 which according to the RapidRepair site is upgradeable to 1 TB. What else do I need. The think that I need a zif connector? And a larger battery? Thanks for the past and future help! Mark
Tarkan iFlash-Sata is the only working one for mSATA. It’s been tested that the 850 don’t work well or at all, good with the 840.
Hi, have you make it work with the 850 or change it to the 840? I’d been searching around and the only thing I found is a problem with the voltage. Thanks.
I thought that Samsung mSata 850 EVO 1TB does not work with all models of iPod classic 7th Gen. Now I purchased all parts needed to assemble my iPod Classic 7th Gen from ifixit.com and eBay. I mistakenly purchased the mainboard of iPod Classic 7th (may be 6th) with firmware 2.0.1 and Samsung mSata 850 EVO 1TB from eBay before I saw Tarkan Video from YouTube. As many of you posted on ifixit.com or YouTube.com, I tried it but it turn out to be not working. So, I purchased another mainboard of iPod Classic 7th Gen with 2.0.5 firmware becasuse I heard some rumors from local private iPod classic repair shop. I received the mainboard yesterday and it worked fine. Due to the some problem on the click wheel button, the MENU button did not lead me to the previous menu, but I am pretty sure that if I have another correctly working mainboard it will not be a problem. I am posting impages. I hope this would be helpful to you.
the samsung 840 evo works only with 2.04 firmware? or do i need to upgrade firmware to 2.05? pls help? is ZIF converter still needed?
