Today I needed a jump for the old dead battery on my 91 camry 4cyl wagon with 212000 miles. I accidentally put negative on positive & positive on negative on my mom’s car battery AFTER putting the cables in the correct places on my car, it did spark a bit & I turned them around right away but it blew the 80v main fuze on my camry. I replaced the fuse and put in a new battery and now the car will turn over but it won’t start, what else may be wrong? Could be ignition…..for about 3-4months every 10-15th time I start the car(I drive it & run around a lot every day) it makes a weird noise when I turn the key & won’t start untill the 3rd-4th try. If it helps to know i replaced the starter when it didn’t need it at 200,000 miles so not long ago, voltage regulator went out at 205,000 so replaced alternator then. is it ignition or fuel pump why it won’t start? Or did my dumbass short out new alternator with them cables? I’m in thinkn it’s fuel so got a fuel filter & gonna see.

Part of ignition coil wasn’t getting voltage so replaced the coil it but still wouldn’t start, looked again & found a blown 15amp fuse that i either missed the 1st check or it blew while replacing the coil. Got it started & all works great except radio, clock & interior light all don’t work. DONT EVER CROSE POSITIVE & NEGATIVE ON CABLES, twas a nightmare! Blew 4 fuses & ignition coil that was close to dead.

38.6.89% chance it is the alternator
