My iphone 5c got wet on the back housing by my kid and the screen couldn’t display anything and became dark blue, and I saw dark light from inside, after dry the housing with tissue I held down the power button and home button at the same time for a few seconds then it died. I tried to charge it but the screen showed nothing, and I called it with another phone but couldn’t hear the phone ring. After removing the screen I saw no sign of water damage inside and the water damage sticker is still white. I removed the battery and cleaned the logic board and inside of rear housing with disinfectant alcohol with cotton swab, after reassembling still it wouldn’t turn on. It dies completely. I wonder if I got a faulty screen or logic board. Anyone can help? Thanks.
As Ben says, don’t waste your time putting a phone in rice…. You most likely have a logic board problem because most of the board is covered in shields. So any corrosion or shorts are probably not visible. That said, depending on where the water went, you may also have a bad screen. If you want, you can try the following steps to clean things out: Open your phone and remove the logic board (follow this guide)Inspect the logic board, especially around the connectors and look for corrosion.Inspect both sides of the board. Unfortunately, 80% of the board is covered in shields. That’s usually where the damage is occurring.Put your board in a container with >90% isopropyl alcohol and let it sit for a while.Use a soft brush, like a toothbrush and lightly brush away any corrosion you see.Rinse in alcohol and repeat.Let it air dry for a day.Re-assemble and hope for the best. A professional repair shop that does water damage repair may be able to recover your phone or the data because they have access to pro-level ultrasonic baths and specialized cleaners as well as the skills to troubleshoot your board.
After water damage never push the power button before completely clean the motherboard. Methods like rise not working, you should use isopropil alcochol and completely clean the motherboard, remove the shields. Unfortunately you have a faulty motherboard now, maybe some resistors have oxidize and need replace. A technician should look your motherboard and replace the faulty parts, maybe faulty chips too.
