Before I start - 42LM6700 share the same power supply board as 47" sibling, 47LM6700. The power supply model number is eax64744201(1.3) eay62608902. There are 2 transistor attached to heat sink, 1 has reading while the other don’t. (I try touching the pin with meter). What was blown is underneath it, which to my limited knowledge is connected to the transistor. Attached is the link of the board picture. I didn’t take picture the other side (under that transistor.) so my question is what type is that transistor (what does it do) also the diode/resistor that connect to that said transistor under it. There’s also a six pin (or was it eight?) chip controller under the transistor. What does it do?

Hello michael, Question 1 : It is special high frequency transistor call FET/ MOSFET : More info Question 1 : Yes. mosfet should drive. it gets feed back to drive, Question 3 : Most of controller comes with 8 Pins : Some chips can see 6 pins from outside but they are grounded by lower side This Image will help you to identify the components on you SMPS
