3ds XL works fine without a game cartridge on it. As soon as I inserted a game cartridge, the unit shuts off. I won’t be able to turn it on unless the game cartridge is removed.

Found Capacitor (C144) near bottom right of game slot card reader shorted. Removed the shorted capacitor C144, and now system turns on and reads game cartridge. I don’t know the value of this particular capacitor, but I added a surface a mount cap 4.7 uf. at C144 location.
