My laptop had always been perfectly working well until three days ago it could not be charged anymore and it is now dead. I watched a two-hour long film with full charge at beginning but the battery went down to 27% when the film ended. I was very shock, so I started charging it. But it the battery percentage did not go up but kept dropping until it was totally out of power. Then I tried to charge it overnight. In the morning when I work up I found that it was still out of power. Then I tried another charger through different ports on the laptop, it still did not work. Then I sent it to Apple Store. The technician used his charger to try to boost it but failed. He then told me the worst case is that the logic board could be damaged. He said as the SSD is soldered into the logic board on the 2016 MBP, so the data will be lost if the logic board needs to be replaced. There were some important files in my laptop without backup. I really need to take all data out. I am wondering A) how likely is the logic board damaged in my case and B) is there a way to get my data out intact? I am yearning to hearing a voice which would make me less worried cos I am really really worried.

Boy I love Genius’s that just don’t know their stuff ;-{ Your data can be recovered! There is a special tool that Apple has to do this This is Apple’s special tool to help customers recover data from the MacBook Pro’s non-removable SSD Go back to the Apple Store and show them the document and ask they use it to recover the files. Sadly, you’ll need to buy a replacement logic board and you should bring a external drive so they have something to copy your data too. Let us know how it goes!

The apple bar guys will make you sh** your pants like you are a little boy. Why trust these guys I am not sure. The data is recoverable even if the board is dead. Worse case scenario, if the ports are not able to read, can still remove the flash chips to read them manually but will cost $$$$. The logic board may have the power control mux issue. The boards includes 4 of these chips to manage the power supply and they are made by Intersil (Maxim). I hope you are using the apple original charger and cable. The aftermarket chargers got issue with the current control and some times the pins are different. I don’t think the logic is trash by your explanation and should be able to fix without so much hassle.
