will the mid 2013 macbook air 11" battery fit the the 2012 macbook air 11? If so, will it work with the hardware?
The batteries are the same size. If you’re thinking this would give you longer battery life it wont. There are other major changes to the logic board & hardware that allow for the longer life. If this Answer is helpful please remember to return and mark it Accepted.
Step 4 in the 11" Mid 2013 Teardown has a convenient overlay comparison showing differences from the 2012 to 2013 models. The battery size / mounting points appear to be nearly identical to one another. Based on this it certainly appears to be swappable from one generation to another. With that said, Machead is correct. The main reason the new MacBook Airs see higher gains in battery performance is from the new processors using the Haswell architecture. Haswell chips have dramatically better power management than previous generations, making processor usage much more efficient and less of a strain on battery life. So basically, the battery will likely fit without problem but you more than likely won’t see noticeable battery life improvements
