I got an old 15” 2012 Unibody MacBook Pro on craigslist. It’s having a weird issue with the keyboard backlight. I uploaded photos to make the problem more clear. The backlight seems to light up across the whole board, but it only shines through the F7, 7, Y, H, B, and N keys. Can I fix this by taking it apart and realigning the backlight with the keys, or is the problem a mismatched original/3rd party backlight/keyboard?
The unevenness is either burn’t out LED’s or the backlight assembly is damaged. There is no shifting issue, its possible someone replaced either the keyboard or backlight assembly with a bad or incorrect unit.
