hi i have a toshiba satalite a500 17x and the 2 usb ports have stoped working i recently plugged a nouse in and it said device malfunctioned and since then they havent worked and i dnt have clue how to fix them i have tried various techniques but none of them have worked but the 1 on the right is still functioning thanks for all your help
karl hudson , it looks like your USB ports are held in place by a single small screw that goes into a small plastic post that is positioned in between the two ports. They are wired to the motherboard, not soldered or reinforced in any way. It is possible that your board has either become unconnected or the USB ports are no longer making contacts with the board. Try to download this manual and see if you can get to the USB board. The attached image is what you are looking for. Hope this helps, good luck.
