Is the faster 2.0 Gbps SSD (versus 1.6 Gbps) from the 2015 15" MBP compatible with the 13" MBP? If they are I would like to retrofit my 13" with the faster drive from the 15".

Sadly, no The newer MacBook Pro systems use a Proprietary interface based on PCIe: PCIe 2.0 x 4 lane. The previous version of MacBook Pro’s use a PCIe 2.0 x 2 lane version.
