hi, Today there was high voltage in my house while i was playing Ps3. Within seconds i heard a fuse like sound and smoke started coming out of my television and then from my ps3. I can send my tv for repair but not my ps3. So, i want to know exactly what happened to my ps3. After few hours i tried switching on both my television and my ps3 just to see it it works. Luckily its working but what was that smoke and that burning wire smell coming out of my ps3? I haven’t played my ps3 since.
sid, unless you take it apart and take a look at it, any answer will be hypothetical only. I strongly suggest to not turn it on, disassemble it by using the teardown from here PlayStation 3 Super Slim Teardown as an idea how to do that. Then take a look at all the components, especially in the PSU and see what you can find. I suggest bad caps….
