The small brown tab that clamps the ribbon cable for the back case onto the motherboard just popped off while I was putting the cable back in. Attached are pictures of the tab,

the ribbon cable on the back case,

and the pins it fits into

(the white slot) does this go back on and if so how? I have large fingers and can barely see what I’m doing. Does the cable work without it being clamped down/can I just tape the cable in the slot? The disasembly guide on here could really use an overhaul, it just says to reverse the steps, but getting things back together is much different than taking it apart. That and it skipped steps relating to the ribbon cables.

eric jiga not it will not work without it. Well, not properly anyway. That little tab holds down the cable to make proper connection with all the contacts in that connector. You’ll find if you do not use it, the display will most likely not work. That tab is really hard to see but some of those have little bumps on the ends that insert into the connector. You’d need to post a macro picture of this to see it :-) . Worst case scenario would be having to replace the connector. It is possible but requires some pretty good skills and tools to solder it on.
