Basically, I have a PS4 Pro with a defective drive and tried to test the console with a working drive from my ps4 slim. When I swapped the drives, it would spin and the laser would shine, however I did not get the disc icon on the top right on my screen. Thus the question: Are the disk drives between PS4 Slim and Pro interchangeable? Follow up question: If they are, what component could have failed so that the drive spins and reads, but I do not get the cd icon on the screen? (F6202 was blown and replaced on the pro, and still getting su 42118-6 when updating) Thanks!
Did you check all the other fuses? I believe Andrew Paul on YouTube has a video about checking the fuses on this. The PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro Blu-ray drive assemblies are interchangeable. The difference between if I remember correctly is the length of the ribbon cables which would require swapping them over. The other component that may be faulty is the BD-Drive Controller Chip, there’s two of these kinds of chips one is replaceable and the other is not due to it being paired with the console. The original Blu-ray drive should be still good to re-use but you probably need to swap out the disc feed motor as that sometimes is blown at the same time the fuse blows.
