Hi everyone, Currently stumped, at what should be a relatively straightforward step. Background: in the process of a full rear chassis replacement on my iPhone X (A1901, 64GB), for cosmetic reasons (cracked rear glass panel). Beyond that, the phone is in new condition. Successfully stripped down the old housing and began transferring over the relevant bits to the new housing, starting with the wireless charging coil & its attached Volume-Mute flex cable. However, for the past couple days, I’ve literally been stumped trying to refit the Mute button to its mount on the flex cable. Yes, I’ve spent 2 days trying to fit a single darn button- and I’m now at my wits’ end, having destroyed the original flex with all the fiddling. Currently: I’ve since bought a replacement flex, which should arrive later today. I think the issue stems from not completely understanding the orientation of the Mute button ‘wings’ in relation to the grooves on its mount (i.e.) how & where exactly it fits. (I’ve attached a picture to elaborate on this confusion).I’ve scoured the net looking for any info/help on the subject; slowed down videos just to catch a glimpse of someone inserting the button; referred to other manuals/videos for older iPhone models- all to no avail. (Seems to be a general lack of info on the subject, given that it’s simply a non-issue for most). Questions: [1] I’ve attached a close-up, labelled pic. Can anyone please have a look & kindly guide me with the orientation re: what goes where? (e.g.) wings go into the bit labelled ‘B’. [2] Any relevant sources of info, in lieu of the above, would also be greatly appreciated. [3] As a small aside: I’ve also noticed that both Volume buttons now seem to be sunken into the housing and are no longer ‘clicky’ whatsoever. Again, they worked perfectly fine before, and I’ve replaced them just as they came out. Any thoughts or suggestions/solutions to this? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions guys- always greatly appreciated.
did you buy an aftermarket housing or donor housing from another iPhone X? In my personal experience, I’ve had bad luck with aftermarket housings. You can source donor housings that will have parts like the wireless charger and buttons and even a battery already installed.
