I ordered a new logic board from iFixIt and it already has a serial number for another machine. Is there any way to replace the serial number with the one that ACTUALLY goes with MY machine? I will be emailing/calling tomorrow. Just figured I’d ask in the mean time. Thanks! PS, I already have the board serializer software, but I cannot rewrite what’s already written.
Yes, but there is no good reason to do so on a device that is out of warranty.
Apple doesn’t even offer its authorized service centers black boards! The SOP is to write the new S/N on the inside bottom cover with permanent marker. Besides the case number is often unreadable from wear.
