My phone was brand new working fine the day I was arrested. 3 months later when I was released the Screen was with out cracks or any kind of damage but the display was flickering in and out, and eventually it just went blank. Is this most likely because it was probably thrown around with my property bag threw out the months or could it be moister??? is that worth haveing repaired??
Hello Nathan, You can decide for yourself if it is worth putting money into repairing you device. Most Alcatel OneTouch are in the $100-200 range, or even under $100 new. Just because your screen is not cracked does not mean you can expect the part to be “good”. A hard impact may cause a glass screen assembly to crack. It may or may not flicker or show a corrupted image. The image may go completely blank at the moment of impact, or long after. It is also possible that the top layer of the screen does not crack, yet any of the display symptoms could still occur. The are many possible causes of your no-display issue, with broken screen being likely. An experienced repair shop is going to charge you $50-100 to replace screen, and probably within the same price range if your phone is indeed water damaged. I would recommend finding a repair shop with a “no-fix, no-fee” policy regarding repair. So if they cannot fix it, they will not charge. I would also be honest with your expectations on price. If you spell out from the beginning “I don’t know what’s wrong, but I am willing to fix this for $50. I am NOT willing to fix it for$100” than the shop will appreciate you more as a customer.
