Camera turns on but does not take pictures. Everything works except taking pictures. Screen works for displaying various functions, but turns black the moment lens extends and opens. Pressing silver button does nothing. I simply cannot see any images through the lens on my screen. Nor does shutter within lens mechanism click. Could it still be a lens problem? Or some other other electrical part that will not let my screen light up for taking a picture? Your insight is appreciated. I love this camera and it is full of wonderful images of international travel that I as yet haven’t downloaded. One other question, Is worth it for me to put it back together so I can view my beautiful dead camera at its funeral?
You took camera apart but have no evidence of any problem. You want to replace something but frankly , Michael, if you cannot narrow your question, this answer cannot be concise. The only thing I can recommend is putting the camera back together and hope and pray that the problem was merely a loose connection that you unknowingly fixed by taking the camera apart and putting it back together. You could replace the lens or the main board, but the odds are too low that you will ‘do the right thing.’ Take the SD card out, load the pictures from it on your computer. Celebrate your camera’s funeral. Buy another camera. And be happy with the memories your deceased Canon SX600 HS gave you.
