I have a laptop that appears to have been dropped. The screen bezel is cracked and the old display was flickering but faintly displayed the Windows OS. Whenever I hooked up an external display everything displayed correctly however. I took the PC apart and replaced the screen and now I only see the built in self test (red, green, blue colors sequentially display on the screen) It sounds like the hard drive is running however I can no longer see Windows and cannot get to the BIOS. Has something else failed or are there other connections that I should check? Thanks!
Looks like either you didnt use the correct display or your connections arent put in properly. Take it apart again and unplug all connectors and then plug them back in. Also check to make sure you got a compatible screen. Try connecting it to an external monitor again to see if it still displays an image aswell.
