Chosen Solution
I have removed the damaged digitizer glass and installed the new digitizer. I thought that before I removed the covers from the glue and put the digitizer back onto the ipad, I would check the screen. The back of the lcd lights fine full white backlight, however the front of the lcd is only displaying on about a 1.5" wide vertical band on the left side. The rest of the display is black. Any ideas would be great. Exploreman
check that the lcd ribbon is connected properly and that you havent damage the ribbon when taking off the old digitiser
Check the flex ribbon on the bottom of the LCD for tearing. This is very common with household repairs, and you would need to replace the LCD. you may also, less likely, have a disconnect in the LCD. [IMG]http://i67.tinypic.com/2n9f3a0.jpg[/IMG] There are TWO on the bottom
