My MBP Early2015 is the same, the screen is an illegible mess of green horizontal lines. When I plug it into an external monitor, TV or projector both the external monitor AND my internal monitor work perfectly! Screen also runs clean in safe mode. Is this symptomatic of the T-con issue, should I replace display? Thanks.
Denny, Your system is very different architecturally than the 2016 models. Yours is a Thunderbolt2 port (using a DisplayPort connection) whereas the 2016 models have a USB-C/Thunderbolt3 port (using a USB-C dongle to HDMI). Your series has a known issue with the MUX logic and the Thunderbolt controller chip. Clearly your system needs repairs.
Jumping again on this one, I had the very same problem as Denny. The repairing shop told me that the screen has to be replace, as he tried to mount a new logic board but this did not fix the problem….Has anyone managed to resolve this issue differently? Thanks
