Hello! Pretty self explanatory, my screen has completely gone white. I have 0 experience with fixing things by hand, so apologies if I take a little to understand any responses. It did not happen after a hit or drop, it simply started doing that. First started out as a glitchy gray vertical band on the right side of the screen, before shrinking over the course of a few hours. Some time after leaving it to rest, I open it again and see it completely white. Everything else still completely responsive, even the screen brightness controls work. Already tried resetting NVRAM and Safe Mode, to no avail.
@lucman27 - I would see if you are seeing your desktop via an external display, if you do that tells us the internal display has failed. This sounds like the display connector may be loose or water has made a short circuit on the display part of the board. Turn the Mac off by holding the power button. Unplug everything from the laptop, mouse, printer, etc. Check the power supply’s connector, make sure there is no debris on either the female or the male connector before plugging it back in. Sometimes small metal things such as screws can get stuck and short circuit the power supply. Plug in an external monitor and turn the Mac on. If you get an image on the external monitor, then most likely you have a bad/disconnected display connection. If you don’t get any image, try leaving the Mac in a dry place for a few days unless you are able to open it and inspect the motherboard for bad connections or corrosion.. I hope this helps. Open the macbook, disconnect the battery, disconnect the screen cable from the logic board and check for any corrosion or discoloration on the end cable or on the LVDS socket pins. Also pay attention to the components in the socket area. If everything seems normal and you get a signal on an external monitor then you can assume your retina displays is faulty.
