My Lenovo Thinkpad X201i screen just does not turn on after starting the laptop. I have tried every other means such as clicking F8, thinkvintage button, all other diagnostics described by lenova such as booting in safe mode etc, I am not sure if it is a motherboard problem. I am not under warranty and my laptop is 4 year old.
If the laptop power lights turn on but not the screen, you can test the screen by plugging in another external monitor into the VGA or HDMI port. Windows will by default clone the screen. If it works then a screen replacement is needed. if it doesn’t most likely the VRM on the main board has been fried. This would mean a main board replacement.
