Somebody is giving away this TV for free, and I’m wondering how much the fix would cost. I think $200 would be my upper limit. Boston, Massachusetts area.

The TV has some small lines vertically, and the upper 15% of the screen is black. 85% of the TV is fine. Model UN55KU6300FXZA" I know it would be hard to diagnose the problem without taking a look. But maybe even on a cursory look, the answer is “oh the fix would cost more than $200, for sure!” or “nah, shouldn’t be higher than $200”. Thanks everyone in advance.

@upolat that looks like TAB errors. Those are the bondings of the thin ribbon cables from the driver board to the LCD. Hard to fix but for free I’d take. Once opened, apply some pressure to the TAB’s and see what happens. Post some pictures of the inside of your TV once you have it and hopefully we can guide you some more. A professional repair (would be required) of the LCD will cost more than $200 USD and so will the alternative of a new new panel
