I dropped my Samsung S5 and even though there was no visible damage to the phone, the screen won’t come on at all. I still get alarms, the phone rings for incoming calls (I just can’t answer them) and the Bluetooth in my car works just fine. Thanks a bunch all you experts out there in Internet land! Richard
Follow the iFixit guide to open the LCD up. BE VERY CAREFUL! IF your LCD was working, this is a great way to permanently destroy it. In the instructions, he used a heat gun if I recall, but you can use a hair dryer on high heat, low fan speed. DO NOT HOLD THE DRYER IN THE SAME PLACE FOR TOO LONG! One of 3 things may have happened.
- LCD is damaged, you just can’t see the damage. LCD will have to be replaced.
- LCD Cable got knocked loose, this is easily repaired
- Logic board connector for LCD is broken, this is more difficult to repair.
