I bought a UN85au8000 a little over a year ago. About 2 months after I got it, the left side of the screen went dark as though the backlighting turned off. It wasn’t THAT much of an inconvenience so I just let it go. But yesterday the right side went dark too. But then later in the day the left side lit back up. While the right side stayed dark, then the middle also went dark. Left side still good. The right side kind of flickers once in a while. I’m assuming that the backlighting itself doesn’t need to be replaced since the left side came back on and the right side still flickers. I know this is a relatively common issue, but I’ve never seen anyone say they’ve had the exact same thing happen as I have. I.e one side being off, then coming back on again eventually while the other 2/3 of the screen go “off” all in one day. Any suggestions?

@vdub143 you are losing your backlight because of increased voltages and failures on more of them. You will need to replace the backlight array. For a panel that size, it’ll be tough and you definitely will need somebody to assist you with that. You have to disassemble the panel to get to the back lights so make sure you have a second person help you to remove the LCD without flexing it. in principle it replaces like shown on here
