Hi, I have a Samsung 39” TV that will not turn on. It was used very little over the past four years or so . The red standby LED comes on if I unplug the TV and plug it on again. As soon as I press the ON button either on the remote or on the underside of the TV itself, the red light goes off and nothing happens. There is no sound, no image. The screen is totally black. I tried this many times, unplugging the power, pushing the ON button on the TV for a long time, plugging in again and retrying. Same result every time. Totally repeatable. I opened the TV and looked at the two boards. There is no obvious damage to either of them. The TV model number is UN39FH5000F and 800x600 images of both board are attached. Can anyone tell me which measurements I could perform to identify the malfunctioning board(s)? Is this info somewhere? Thanks!
Update (08/26/2018) @oldturkey03 I see the markings for the CNM801 connector, but I am not sure how to interpret them. For example, to check if Vamp is 0.3A, do I measure the current between posts 5 and 7? Between one of 5 or 7 and a GND? Ditto for B13V (posts 1, 3 and 4. Also, are the odd numbered (1,3,5 etc.) posts of this connector on the top as we look towards the board from the side or the bottom? Thanks! (Newbie willing to learn…)
kyzy your red standby light should be an indication that the power board is functioning. The main board is the board that gets the signal to turn the TV on. I would start by measuring connector CNM801 (values are printed on the board). You definitely need the power on voltage. Let us know what you get.
