Chosen Solution
I went to start up my Samsung N130 Netbook a few days ago and on it starting up there were 3 bleeps leading to nothing…. Nothing shows up on screen at all, the machine is running as i can here the fan etc. i have checked harddrive and am going to check the ram. Any other suggestions as to what it could be? Or anyone who has had same problem?
patyershants, try entering the BIOS with [F2], then save BIOS defaults with [F9], and then save and exit with [F10]. You also want to check that the memory module is correctly seated. Try the computer without the battery. Remove the battery, the memory and the AC power. Press and hold the power button for a few seconds, then reinstall the memory and the AC power only. If that does not accomplish anything you may need to try a CMOS Reset. To reset your CMOS you should have some power pads under your memory module. Remove the memory and look for two pads with a marking like “RTC reset”. Shorten those, and only those, with a pair of tweezers or similar instruments. See what you get. Hope this helps, good luck.
Same thing happened to me, to find out that my proccessor inside was loose, i took it apart and it was a see able problem, i took a bit of a card and popped it right into these little pads, to secure it.. right after doing so it worked perfectly, its something on the inside. Otherwise i dont know how else to help you, your best bet would be taking it apart, its not that hard at all, nothing to mess up. all you need is a tiny screwdriver
Same problem here. Maybe worth mentioning but the CMOS battery on these is a small disk with wires attached. I have replaced it (2.6V) but alas no change. It might be worth replacing the 25L16 BIOS IC if all else fails as this has unbricked a few netbooks here. Also check core voltage as if this is too low then it won’t work. Hint: these chips are often used on older netbooks and have a scrapper (Toshiba 630996-001) that has already donated its power switch to the cause. The fiddly part would be flashing this and recommend the chip be wiped twice with zeros to make sure before flashing it with a known good image. You can just buy a chip as well from ze biosman.
