Samsung plasma Model: PS60F8500AM . Won’t turn o n red light flashes . 2x5 times. So the red light flashes twice for a series of 5 times than becomes solid & restarts the sequence. The TV had a very loud bang with a white flash of light than went black. I have open the back & checked the fuses they are good. I can’t see any sign of damage. I was expecting to see a blacken short somewhere.
Hi, According to this link a 2 blink error code for an F8500 series plasma TV indicates a temp protect error. Scroll down and click on the Stopping REDO: Understanding Flashing Error Codes on 2013 Plasma TVs link. I couldn’t find out what this means but I found this link where someone else had the same problem with an F8500 series plasma TV. Reading through it appears that a capacitor blew on the Y main board and this damaged the board as well as some other boards as well, which included the Y buffer, the X main and the X buffer boards. You may want to first try changing the damaged capacitor on the Y main board and check if it resolves the problem. It didn’t for the person in the link. The location of the capacitor was described on the previous page of the thread. It said “It was one of the small blue capacitors located next to one of the heat sinks, and reads R.331K 1 KV.” Scroll down to the post by hurricanebob dated 06-14-2016 (8th post down) to view the possible solution to your problem. Hopefully this is of some help.
