I have a 2008 A550 series LCD TV with the well-known power cycling/screeching/freezing issues. At this point, it will almost always turn on with the 2nd attempt. With it plugged in, the standby light is on. I checked the power board (and main board) for any caps that had obvious bulging or damage; I don’t see any visible issues. Also checked continuity of fuses just to be sure. The power board specifies that the STB terminal should be 5.1v - multimeter reads 0. Is there anything else that I can do before I replace the power board (and hope that fixes it)? I can solder, but I’m not sure if I want to invest the time to replace all the caps if I can’t tell which (if any) are bad. FYI, it is probably just incidental, but the power switch on the side of the TV rarely works, probably just dirty contacts. It always turns on with the remote. Update (12/17/2020)

@winstontoby if you have no STBY voltage it is most commonly a power board issue. Now if your power switch is not working you want to check on that as well. What you got going on with the part marked in the image. Can you take a close up of that for us?

Hi @winstontoby Capacitors don’t have to be bulging or leaking to be causing problems. Found this which may be a cheaper first option to try. At least you will know what to replace. Your power board is an IP-271135A so it should be close enough to the model number in the link provided (IP-271135). Also your TV model is listed in the link as well Remember if the capacitors are electrolytic types that they are polarity sensitive so make sure that they’re installed as per the ones that are removed. Look for the -ve stripe down the side of the capacitor or conversely the +ve marking on the circuit board Worth a shot
