Samsung UA55D7000 Clicking noise won’t turn on Hello folks, I would appreciate any advice and big thanks in advance 🙏🏼 I’ve been given a UA55D7000, which I really need to get working. It doesn’t turn on, clicks every ~7 seconds when plugged in, nothing comes up on the screen at all. I’ve taken it apart and so far: When plugged in, it clicks twice (like a relay going on and off). The backlight tries to come on (can see some light for a split second through the holes in the back) I tried resoldering the likely suspects in this video, as it’s almost identical model: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cQXkvrUPk4… But didn’t make a difference. If I unplug the main board from the PS board, the screen flickers - this is the most I can make it do, and more than it does when the main board is plugged in. Possibly one of the LEDs is faulty and tripping it out? Or something in the main board? Or the above soldering fault did exist, I’ve now fixed it, but it previously tripped one of the smaller fuses in the PS board, which I need to replace now I’ve resoldered it? Again thanks in advance for any ideas 🙏🏼 Update (05/28/2022)
Update (06/07/2022) Update: I replaced the power board and now it turns on, screen works fine and stays on, except when you try and get it to do something. It had a PD55B2_BHS board originally. I couldn’t find one but did find a PD55B2_BSM, which is apparently interchangeable. It’s actually smaller, so only two of the mounting holes line up, but otherwise seems to work. I can navigate the menu fine, and it will stay on if a source is selected which isn’t connected to anything, e.g. says ‘Check signal cable’. But… If I try and select a connected HDMI source (Roku streaming box), it turns itself off. If I select TV, even though the aerial isn’t connected and it’s just grey noise, it turns itself off. I connected it to my nework via an Ethernet cable and attempted to update the software, but as soon as it tried to connect to the network, it turns itself off. I read about the AnyNet+ problem and turned that off in the settings, but no change. I turned it off for 60 seconds, held down the power button, still no change. It’s like anything strenuous turns it off. Something still going on with the power board? Do I need to find the PD55B2_BHS? More likely there’s another problem, which is why the original power board broke in the first place?
@underthemoon2 “I unplug the main board from the PS board, the screen flickers” you should actually get a full backlight. Seems to be an issues with the backlight LED’s. The clicking is most likely coming from the power supply. Check the voltage on the connector from the power board to the main board (should be CN201) and let us know what you get. Also, check the relay that clicks, should be just above where the main board connects to the power board. those love to burn out their contacts. Post some good images of your boards and the interconnect wiring (total back view of your TV with all the boards etc.) with your QUESTION. That way we can see what you see. Replacing the power board and unplugging this (I think ‘P-Dim 4’) made it work again, but now the bottom of the screen is dark. So I think there’s a problem with the bottom backlight somewhere, but for now this is a liveable fix.
