Hi, I rinsed my Samsung A72 trough water (IP67), the phone displayed the standard notification for water in the charging port. I dried it of, everything was fine. Later that day, after I charged it the problems began. Phone works, screen works, but after some use, touch screen won’t respond. After a hard reset it would work again but after 2 sec, 2 min or 20 min it would freeze again. I sent it to the repair shop and they changed LCD display (I think digitizer with it) and motherboard. I charged it, installed all my apps, everything was great for half an hour and then it started again. Now it freezes after 1 min of use, sometimes stays frozen even after a hard reset. I tried safe mode but it didn’t help. I squeezed the phone for any loose contacts but it didn’t help either. Any ideas? Faulty charging port? Battery? Charger? Digitizer? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Take it back to the repairer and show them the problem. They may have missed something when cleaning it and replacing the parts. Also the phone may have had an IP67 rating when it left the factory but this doesn’t mean that it will keep it forever. Over time normal handling can cause the phone to bend slightly, case to be scratched and small cracks appear etc. Any number of reasons that can cause the waterproof integrity of the phone to be lessened. Water should be kept as far away as possible from electronics. They don’t mix. If you want to clean it, moisten a lint free cloth with Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+ (available at electronics parts stores) and wipe it all over with that. The alcohol will clean and disinfect the phone and then evaporate, leaving no residues, before it causes any harm.
