my Samsung A30s was swept over by a shallow wave as i was trying to video the tide coming in ?♀️ i didnt realise how close the water was before it was too late. In a split second i snatched my ph up and took it out of case and shook it all the way to the car.. i had it in rice within half n hour and left overnight until i purchased Isopropyl Alcohol 1st thing next morning..iv submerged it for about 3 hours..and now in rice again… i cant disemble it as its a closed device and the battery is internal…What do i do next?
Hi, If you can’t open it yourself contact a reputable, professional phone repair service, experienced in liquid damage repair and ask for a quote for a repair. If you decide to do this, do it sooner than later. You can only hope that it still can be repaired. The impurities in the water, especially salty sea water, causes corrosion and provides circuit paths for the electricity which were not in the phone’s operating design and could damage the components. The corrosion starts immediately and is ongoing until it is completely cleaned away First do not try to charge or to turn on your phone . Also rice does not fix the problem caused by corrosion Rice is for dinner, not repair Unfortunately submerging it in alcohol with the battery still connected wouldn’t have helped and most probably has caused more damage. Alcohol conducts electricity as well. The idea of using alcohol is to gently clean the systemboard with it to remove the corrosion and have the battery disconnected whilst doing this. The alcohol will evaporate and leave no residues that can cause corrosion or conduct electricity. Here’s a teardown video that may help if you can’t get to a repairer soon. At least to open it and to disconnect the battery
