My 2 1/2 year old Samsung UN55JS9000 TV has developed a large dark shadow in the middle of the screen. It is out of warranty so looking for help on a possible fix. Went through all of the support suggestions and no dice. It is visible with every source (satellite box, Netflix, etc) so just looking for some advice on where to start troubleshooting. It seems like it may be the led (edge lit) lights but hoping it isn’t the LCD panel. The second photo below is a close up of the right side of the tv, to me it looks like some of the leds are not on, any other possibilities?
Any suggestions or advice on how to troubleshoot and fix would be appreciated. Thanks so much for any help! Kathy
My first guess would be the failure of some of the LED back light strips. Changing these is tedious but not necessarily difficult. The entire set needs to be dis-assembled to gain access to the strips. Verify the proper strip using the numbers on the strips within your set. It is possible to have similar models using different strips. The strips MUST match. Dan
