Chosen Solution
Beginning with the iOS 11.x update Safari randomly freezes at various times. If I need to back up while typing it sometimes freezes. Sometimes I start to type and when the keyboard comes up something is already pressed. It can be the back button, another random key, or sometimes it is an “accented” letter such as å or ē which I have never typed. Other times it will turn off while on a web page, turn back on and it is frozen, you cannot see any of the website tabs showing, it is just a solid gray. The only thing that works is a force restart, that gets pretty irritating after 7-8 times a night… HELP!!!!!
Have you tried doing a backup onto either iCloud or your Mac or Windows PC and then wiping the system down and re-installing the OS and your stuff? I would start there.
