About 3 days ago when I turned on my Asus laptop I began getting a request to enter my wifi network (Verizon) password. This has never happened before. I can’t understand why I need to enter this even when I am not planning to use the internet. Is this an Asus or Window’s 10 problem?

Thx for the helpful response. It turns out that automatic logon had been disabled–probably via one of the recent W 10 updates. It had also enabled my touchpad which I had previously disabled. It appeared I had to log into my network to get on the computer because I had used the same password for both the computer and the network. So your more elegant suggestion was not needed. But I appreciate your assistance.
