Ring video doorbell will not connect to wifi and it cannot be seen by my phone.
How do you reset the ring doorbell? If the light still doesn’t start spinning when you push the orange button, try performing a hard reset. To perform a hard reset, hold down the black button for 15 seconds. After releasing it, the light on the front will flash a few times indicating that your Ring Doorbell is restarting then re start the setup process all over again. Ring setup video

I don’t have a problem anymore. But when I installed my new NETGEAR router it came with Circle app. It is a parental filtering app. It took some work but we figured out that app was blocking the Ring doorbell from connecting to the router. So somewhere - I think you should put that on your forums. So people won’t spen as much time as I’d do trying to get the doorbell to connect to the router.
I tried to conect my ring doorbell several times, it was not asking for the wifi password, i held down the orange button for 15 seconds to hard reset the bell, it asked for password and connected in seconds, i hope this will prevent someone from feeling the 3 hours of frustration i felt.

I had to disable the 5 GHz part of my network and use the 2.4 GHz only.
Disabling 5Ghz resolved my issue. So i have NETGEAR C7000v2 modem/router, what you have to do is open your browser ( use Internet Explorer or Opera do not use Chrome because control panel will not work in Chrome ). Type in www.routerlogin.net you will be prompt fot username and password ( default login for NETGEAR is username: admin password: password ). After you log in go to ADVANCED tab then Advanced Setup and from drop down menu click on Wireless Settings. Look for Wireless Advanced Settings (5GHz a/n/ac) and uncheck “Enable Wireless Gateway Radio” click Apply which is located on top. Log out and unplug your modem/router for 10 sec. Thats it. Worked for me and believe me i called the support they were very nice but made me go to best buy for a replacement so i did. But when second one stopped working i was sure that dorbell wasnt an issue… I hope this was helpful. Good luck !
For Ring doorbell 1: must be on WPA1… CANNOT be on WPA2/3… the older doorbell doesn’t work on newer security protocol. Create a guest network in your router just for these on the old WPA1 i spent two days figuring this out. No need to change other settings. Once you fix this it completes setup right away. Reco you also “forget” all you other WiFi networks on your phone and only use the guest network only for setup process with you phone in airplane mode.
I, too, have Disney Circle and I had to turn it off to get the Ring Doorbell Pro to work with my Netgear Orbi WiFi router. I had recently installed the Orbi router and had been using it for a while (week or so). Then I decided to turn on the Disney Circle and that’s when I lost my Ring Doorbell Pro connection. I tried everything and was beginning to think that the doorbell had gone bad. It was not until I saw this post that made me think to turn it off and when I did, I went through a reset and it works.
After loss of network connectivity I attempted to follow troubleshooting steps for my Ring doorbell Pro, including simple side button press to hard reset. Doorbell would only return to a pulsating ring rather than spinning setup ring, so called Support. We did “all the things”, which mostly consisted of me taking pictures of my doorbell and chime / transformer wiring setup, testing normal doorbell functionality. Support eventually said my Ring Pro was defective and to order a replacement.
I had a good deal of trouble too after we installed a new router. This and more. Use the supplied screwdriver..small screw very difficult to remove to get the case off. Press side button and release it very quickly to get into setup mode. Keep your phone or device very close to the doorbell and wait for the ring network to appear in your list of networks, it takes quite a few seconds. It would not easily connect to my router. Instruction to move bell closer to router impractical when bell already installed. Eventually worked when I stayed close to the bell with the front door open and typed in the router password there. About 2 hours to get it working.
It took me 3 tries and hours with ring technical support. Finally escalated to a higher level of help. I was having trouble connecting to WiFi, I Learned that wireless printers are the enemy of ring. Unplug while setting up. If still having an issue, take the ring and walk out to the curb outside your house at least 10-20 feet. Then try again, it works like a charm.
I spent 2 hours tonight with my cousins new to them home they just bought that has a Ring 1 at the front door. An iPhone or Android would both hook to the Ring 1, but the Ring 1 would not progress past the step of hooking to the WiFi. Time after time it just timed out after entering the WiFi password. I read this entire page and cobbled together the solution from other suggestions. The answer was this… I turned on the 2.4ghz Guest WiFi network and set it to Open with no password. Then did the setup again and the Ring 1 immediately hooked to the WiFi network through the app and began an update of the firmware through the app. After about 7-10 minutes the app reported it was ready and I could see the live video from the Ring 1. I then turned off the Guest WiFi and used the app to change the WiFi of the Ring 1 to the 2.4ghz network with the password and it immediately worked then. I believe it was obviously an older firmware that has since been updated to work with newer routers. If your Ring won’t hook to your WiFi, try connecting to an open network with no password and checking for new firmware.
