Is it possible to just replace the ribbon cable?
With a microscope and soldering iron you can. It’s better to go to Apple and pay them to replace the home button. If you prove that you are the owner of that phone, they will replace it and touch id will work. If you replace it yourself, you could risk a boot loop and your touch id obviously wont work.
