Chosen Solution

Hi! I’ve recently discovered that you can repurpose an old laptop’s screen. So since I had an old dead Toshiba Satellite L50-A-1CU lying around I decided to extract the LCD panel and make it a new display. Now, I’m not exactly the type of guy that knows the insides of computers like the palm of my hand. But still, I was able to extract the LP156WH3 TL S2 LCD panel. The panel has a built-in 40 pin connector but it plugged into the motherboard with a 30 pin connector through a simple cable. With that in mind, I don’t know what controller board to get if a 40pin or a 30pin or even if that doesn’t matter. Could someone help me?

diogo.aleixo  great to reuse your panel. I always start of with the datasheet before trying to find a conversion LCD driver. So here is the one for your panel LP156WH3-TLS2.pdf. Then do a general online search and you’ll find something like this (no worries about the .ru it just pops up because I do my searches a bit different. The Aliexpress link comes up in the US version as well). It is listed as a fit for the LP156WH3 (TL) (S1) Here is the datasheet for that one LP156WH3-TLS1 Datenblatt, Spezifikation, Datasheet, Specification Check to see if the electrical connectors are identical. If so it’s a straight Plug and Play situation. If they are not, contact the seller and let them know the panel that you have. A lot of time they are willing to customize it to fit yours. This one sounds like a nice easy conversion and will allow you to use the old LCD for a multitude of things. Hope you’ll enjoy it
