My Onda V891w failed to update Windows 10 and is now stuck in a restore loop. The screen is black except for ‘Restoring your previous version of Windows’ and does not recover even if left for hours. Can someone please help me to fix this issue Update (06/16/2017) I managed to install Windows 10 x 64 but I don’t have any drivers. None of the driver downloads on the Onda site work (is that because they’re for Windows 10 x 32). I could not install Windows 10 x 32 on my device. Are there any generic drivers I could use?
You can fix this problem if you have the installation media for your original OS. You can select repair options when booting from the installation media and you may still be able to recover your data. If you do not have an installation disk then your options are to buy an OS install disk or find a 3rd party utility that may help you copy off your data. Good luck, Update (06/08/2017) There should be a way to change the boot order or enable USB boot. I looked for information on the Onda website but there is not much available. If you have a user’s manual, it should show how to change boot order and access BIOS. If not, you can try different key combinations that may help. Some tablets use the volume up/down and the power switch to get into BIOS or do hard reset. Try Vol up and Power as you turn it on, if that does not work try Vol down and Power.
Thanks for your quick reply. Unfortunately I wasn’t supplied with the installation media so I used the Windows 10 media creation tool to create an ISO Image file on USB. I was unsure of the Windows Edition and architecture but selected Windows 10, 64-bit (x64). When I restarted the tablet with the USB inserted I got the same message (Restoring your previous version of Windows). Do I have to change any settings to make sure the tablet boots from the USB? I would appreciate any more help to fix this issue.
